Plus he empties the Fall 2012 New Beginnings Interview Vault to share two great interviews.  In the number one slot: Dr. Eric Plasker, author of the international best-selling 100 Year Lifestyle returns to share the keys to revolutionizing our patient education.  Then, in the number two slot:  Blue Books auTHOR, educaTOR, and long time chiropracTOR, Dr. Joe Strauss sits down to talk about drawing lines — demarcating between not only chiropractic and medicine, but chiropractic philosophy and Christianity.  At the half way point, Dr. Lamar gives an overview of his “Mission Possible” ChiroFEST 2013 experience and shares an interviewette he did with the well-known GMO Health-Risk Expert, Jeffery Smith. Plus, take a virtual “tour of the mind” through BJ’s first radio station: WOC; marvel at the POP; learn all about parachuting cats, and enjoy the radio stories of former President of the United States, Ronald “Dutch” Reagan — Palmer’s most remembered station employee.

Chiro-Picker’s Fresh Pick — WHO Radio

Updated Picker Imageby  Todd Waters, aka “The Chiro-Picker” – SpinalColumnRadio featured blogger

My latest pick is a treasure trove of information about the early days of W-H-O Radio, Des Moines, Iowa.

WHO Radio BuildingW-H-O was the second radio station purchased by the Developer of Chiropractic, BJ Palmer.  It is also where Dutch Reagan got his start in show business as a radio sports announcer.  After some motion pictures and a governorship, Ronald Reagan landed the gig as the 40th president of the United States.

I found a compilation of newsletters bound in a book entitled “Our Home Office.”  The newsletters originated from Bankers Life Insurance company, the original owners of Station W-H-O. The book contained the very first issue of Our Home Office, published April 1, 1927, and then continued biweekly, through November 15, 1930.

Bankers Life president, Gerard Nollen, stated that the purpose of the newsletter was to “promote loyalty and enthusiasm” among his employees. I got the sense while reading through these newsletters that Nollen would have been a good person to work for and that he encouraged his team to use their talents. Chiro-Picker’s Fresh Pick — “Tuning In” to Chiropractic’s Past

Antique Collector, Todd Waters, is “The Chiro-Picker”

by  Todd Waters, aka “The Chiro-Picker” – SpinalColumnRadio guest blogger

For this article my focus is on radio related items from chiropractic history.

The first chiropractic relic I discovered has probably been my best find yet — 1931 BJ Palmer voice recordings on five acetate records. Prior to this picking, I didn’t know who this BJ Palmer character was. I just knew unusual spoken word records were a good sell, and these old recordings were probably valuable.

“Very quickly I began to take an interest in Palmer…. I liked this guy.”
