SHOW NOTES
Title: Reggie Gold Tribute Podcast
Host: Dr. Thomas Lamar
Show Date: 01/23/12
Run Time: 152:01
Description: On January 6, 2012, our profession got word via Facebook that the legendary chiropractic icon, Reggie Gold, had fallen ill and would not make it through the night. What followed was an outpouring of love, encouragement, and gratitude via the social network of Facebook. It was profound! …It was so profound that we felt a tug of responsibility to capture some of the voices behind it — to not only pay homage to this amazing chiropracTOR, but to form a time capsule that would display this happening for future generations of chiropractors and historians to come. Essentially, this podcast is a collection of voice mails from all over the world that is but a small sliver of a representation to the lives that Reggie Gold impacted. The mere fact that this podcast is 2 hours and 32 minutes long should speak to this testimony. The best part of this story, however, is that Reggie shocked the doctors and did not pass that night — but lived! His wife, Irene, made it known that the Facebook comments and emails which were sent Reggie’s way, which she lovingly read by his bedside, were an incredible boost to his recovery. So, what started out here at SpinalColumnRadio as sense of responsibility to act as a platform for the profession to remember a Reggie Gold that had passed… turned into a platform to celebrate the legacy of a Reggie Gold that still lives!

With today’s publication of Thomas Lamar’s beautiful tribute to Reggie I thought that I should try to clarify what I said so poorly through all of my raw emotion. Reggie deserves credit for lighting up an entire generation of Chiropractors to understand Chiropractic philosophy, but there are so few who know that it was his crystal clear insight into that philosophy that realized one its most important implications, “Vertebraille” or what we call Advanced Muscle Palpation. It’s been my privilege to share that discovery with Chiropractors for almost 30 years now and I will continue to give him credit for this wonderful gift to the profession. Whenever I’ve had the opportunity of teaching muscle palpation I’m asked by students and Chiropractors if I discovered AMP. I wish that I could say that I had. It took Reggie’s sheer logical genius to see something that was overlooked by everyone else, but had been staring the rest of us in the face since this profession began. So I’ll thank him again here publicly and hopefully express myself a little better without getting so emotional, while there is still time. Thank you Reggie for all that you’ve done for me and for ChiropracTIC . . .

Comment by drlamar January 24, 2012 @ 6:02 pmIMHO, Reggie was the BEST chiropractic speaker… EVER! I first head about Reggie back in 1984 when I started college at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic. Reggie was instrumental in my understanding of the chiropractic principles.
I’ve listened to every recording that I have been able to get my hands on from Reggie.
IMHO, he IS the embodiment of ChiropracTIC! Reggie has made more contributions to the understanding of chiropracTIC philosophy via the spoken word than anyone since B.J. Palmer!
Thanks for touching COUNTLESS lives… for eternity!
May God continue to bless you Reggie!
